Dato’ Sr Lau Wai Seang,

DSPN, DJN, BCN, FRISM, Registered Valuer, CIPV, ICVS

Deputy President, Royal Institution of Surveyors Malaysia (RISM)

Dato’ Sr Lau Wai Seang is the current session 2015/2016 Deputy President of the Royal Institution of Surveyors Malaysia (RISM), as well as the Regional President of Asia, Commonwealth Association of Surveying and Land Economy (CASLE).

She is a Fellow of RISM. Her professional qualifications include:

  • ICVS – International Certified Valuation Specialist, IACVA (International Association of Consultants, Valuators and Analysists), USA;
  • CIPV – Certified Intellectual Property Valuer, a certification by MyIPO (Malaysian Intellectual Property Corporation) and World Trade Institute, University of Berne, Switzerland;
  • Registered Valuer and Registered Estate Agent, both registrations are from the Board of Valuers, Appraisers and Estate Agents, Malaysia.

Dato’ Sr Lau also possesses a Master in Business Administration (Real Estate) from the University of Western Sydney, Australia. Her first degree, Bachelor of Survey (Property Management), was from the University of Technology Malaysia (UTM).

She started her valuation career with the Valuation and Property Services Department (JPPH), Ministry of Finance, Malaysia of which 25 out of 34 years was either as State Director or Head of Section. Her working experience included handling international and professional training courses as well as research activities. Her last post before retiring from civil service was Director of Valuation Services Division, HQ of JPPH, Putrajaya.

Over the years, Dato’ Sr Lau had presented and chaired many papers and sessions, both locally and on an international platform. Her experience on the real estate realm had progressed onto that of Business valuation and Intellectual Property valuation.
